The Power of Networking – Share the knowledge…
Information and knowledge are meant to be shared with others, and by sharing what we know, helping others to succeed & achieve their goals, everyone wins!
Did you know that sharing ideas with one another leads to shared knowledge? Learning from another who has traveled the path you are currently on is always a huge plus for your advancement. Networking has many benefits, not the least of which are the great people you will come to build relationships with.
Giving with no expectation of return comes from a proactive, abundance mentality. When you give with no expectation of return, you are acknowledging the abundance of the universe. You are demonstrating faith that the good you do will benefit others close to you and the world at large – and that good things will come back to you.
Still, there are those that remain hesitant about sharing information or resources and about working with others. You must overcome that fear of losing out on the glory and the profit and learn to work with others.
Some questions you might ask yourself:
- Why are you really doing what you’re doing?
- Is it about you and your own advancement, or is it about creating a result that benefits others?
- Which are you more committed to?
- What does your behavior say?
If your ego or need for status is getting in the way of creating the best result for others, be aware that this leaves you standing still, just waiting to be passed by someone who is fully committed just to getting the result. Rather than trying to defend yourself against this, it’s much more rewarding to stop undermining your growth with status seeking and take on a more giving attitude.
I’d like to leave you with a great quote…“Share your knowledge and experience. Don’t hoard information away like a miser.”

Hi Christine,
So True, We win by giving and lose by hoarding. The law of reaping and sowing is even biblical. You cannot out give God, He rewards those that give.
And it makes no since to hang onto what we know, because sooner or very soon someone else on the web will be sharing the same information in your circles that you could have shared first. So be the first.
And it is very rewarding to share, and help others. Just feels great, so it lifts you up and others as well. I would also encourage everyone to share what they know, it will pay in many more ways than money.
God Bless,
Bruce

Hey Christine,
There’s abundance of information everywhere and if you’re not willing to share/teach others, someone else will. More than that, you don’t know any less because you gave away information. It’s actually incredibly empowering to teach others. I’m always puzzled when someone’s afraid to give away what they know.
That said, there is a point when you do draw a limit as to how much you’re giving away otherwise you can be taken advantage of

Knowledge is power, but one person cannot claim to have all the knowledge in the world that’s why it is important to share with other people and in the process of sharing, we learn even more, we learn different ways of approaching the same problems, we learn how other people around us were able to overcome the hurdles.

You have struck a personal chord in me. While watching all these online gurus tout their stuff, I can’t help but feel a twinge of desire for fame (and fortune). And I know that focusing on that worldly stuff does not bring that stuff to you and does not do it in as much of a gratifying way as when my goal is to help others and I see the change and transformations. Hey Christine!
Great post. I am a huge believer in the idea of masterminding. I think having a mastermind of people is really important for the growth of not only of your business, but of yourself.
Growing up I had 3 close friends, and we were so close no one invited just one of us to a party, they would need to invite all four of us. It just didn’t seem right without the other haha.
I look back on that and realize one of the reasons why us four always felt like we were a little ahead of the others was because we had that childhood mastermind creating that 5th mind. Where ideas, possibilities and dreams could be born and constructed as we talked amongst each other.
Really powerful stuff.
Keep up the blogging!

This is a great post Christine. For me, it brings to light how incredible the TSA Tribe is because it offers us the opportunity to share our knowledge with our fellow members and to learn from them as well. I am still fairly new to the internet marketing industry and belonging to the TSA has helped me tremendously by enabling me to learn from those who have been on this journey longer than I. Giving back is a natural response in expressing my gratitude for the knowledge shared. As individuals, we all bring something different to the table, whether it be a different perspective or something unique to the individual, that strengthens the group.

Hi Christine,
I couldn’t agree with you more. In fact, my knowledge increases greatly as I share it. When I first started online I volunteered to teach classes about Internet browsers and building homepages. There were over 1,000 students in my class. Between all the questions and the interaction, I researched far more than I ever would have on my own just so I could help people, and I also learned a great deal because of what they gave back!
Sharing your knowledge is indeed a win-win exchange.
Then, again, as you and Janette Stoll (above) discussed briefly, there is a line. I’m sure everyone has heard the story about the guy flown in to fix a ship’s engine. He tapped it with a hammer and it started working again… the punchline being his invoice for $10K. It wasn’t tapping his hammer… it was his knowledge of where to tap!

There is no greater reward or satisfaction than to see someone succeed. If I can help anyone reach his/her goal, I will never hesitate to do so.
By the way, it is amazing how much you get back, just by giving without asking for anything in return! And by simply giving, you don’t have to worry if the return is of equal value. You can focus on giving without concerns! It does not get any better than that.

Hi Christine,
You made us think of networking in the way it should be looked at – a way to share with others and help as many people as you can. As you indicate, we have to take the focus off ourselves and be ready to give of ourselves just to give.
The other thoughts you provoked is that networking can and should be done everywhere not just at a networking event. We can help people in every venue if we have the abundance mentality like you stressed here.
Thanks for the excellent reminder of the true purpose of networking!

It’s amazing how certain themes seem to pop out at us on particular days. Your post is a perfect compliment to Dr. Erica’s latest post about relationships (all kinds) being about giving 100% without expecting anything in return.
Just as in any relationship, our networking should always be focused on the the other person — learning about who they are, what they do, what their goals and dreams are, and so on and so on. If and only when we show interest in others will they truly be interested in learning more about us.

But when I thought about it, I realized that this is an important thought because some people think that there’s more power in keeping the good ideas to yourself, whereas the power comes by the act of sharing!

My observation is that all of the successful marketers collaborate with others, over and over. They are “serial collaborators.” They have overcome their hesitations, as you put it, and know fully that collaboration leads to new ideas, projects, audiences, energy, and… profits.
Here is my bombshell thought. Women may well be better collaborators. Perhaps natural collaborators. Oh sure there are many exceptions to any generalization this broad. But I am throwing this out there having just listened to a 20 minute video from Ann Sieg on the biggest market for the next 15 years. Her point is to get ready. My reaction is get ready… to , well I’ll leave that thought for now. It’s on a Facebook page of hers. Fitting.

Sharing in the abundance is the new paradigm for sure. I do think you have to watch out though as there are those that well take until you are dry or you get yourself burned. I generally give abundantly but have recently experienced the flip side. After inquiring around to those I trust I have heard many stories of behaviours people have encountered that probably never would have occurred offline face to face in the same manner.
As a general rule I think it is good to follow a servant-leadership model but sometimes that may entail closing the door for the benefit of both the giver and the receiver.

Hi Christine,
I think for many people, it takes a while for the penny to drop about sharing. Those of us from competitive corporate backgrounds guarded our information and shared only when necessary. Of course, in a networking environment, you have to be who you are. And if that means you’re a miser (love that word by the way) nobody will want to work with you anyway.
So I’m trying to be my normal self and that is someone who I like to think is generous and giving. The proof is there already for me. I’ve gotten so much time and feedback from people who I’ve only just met, and that wouldn’t happen if I hadn’t engaged first.
So, another insightful blog post. I should stop by more often!

Christine,
I am becoming a repeat follower of your blog
You bring a lot of value to the table, and I can appreciate the time and effort it takes to achieve this. Sharing (giving) knowledge to others is the ultimate in personal growth. If more people realized this, our world would be a better place.

Hello Christine,
You just knocked this one out of the ball park!
If you answer those four questions honestly, there shouldn’t be any question about are you in it to help others or for your own selfish reasons, such as status.
I’m going to be writing about this on my blog and send my readers over here to read this!
Thank you for sharing,
Anthony

Hi Christine,
Networking is a vital element to what we do. I love the way you made this about a abundance mentality and sharing the wealth. I think sometimes people are in competition in our industry, and the good news that you point out is that we are sharing more not less!!
Thanks New Friend

Christine,
I think that we people come together and share the knowledge that they have with others not only will it benefit the other person but it will benefit you as well. You have to be a better giver in order to receive.
The more you give the universe will respond in kind and your knowledge has helped others to succeed and that is the best feeling in the world.

Hi Christine,
I was so happy to find this post on your blog…it is such a simple concept, but such a POWERFUL one !
If everyone understood the impact of what you are sharing, the world truly would be a better place. It is very empowering to be able to share your knowledge for the benefit of others and to provide value. It is all about being a go-giver and paying it forward.
For those that do practice this principle, it is quite awesome how it can make you feel, especially when your gestures are appreciated.
I love the quote and here is another by one of my favorite Mentors, Brian Tracy…
“Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, ‘What’s in it for me?’”
Keep these great posts coming…
To your massive success,
Marc
