“3,317 Counter Points, Was It Worth Loosing My Family?”

When I joined Tribe Syndication Association (TSA) four short weeks ago, I had no idea of the incredible journey I was about to begin.

I heard about TSA from Chris Hughes, who I’d connected with a few months earlier on Twitter, in his blog post “10 Tips for Using Affiliate Marketing on Your Blog”. And, although my first week in TSA was a bit of a learning curve for me, it was also a week filled with much excitement ~ never had I experienced so much activity going on within a small group of people.  It was incredible to be a part of!

Something I feel makes TSA unique is that it’s a group comprised of individuals from different walks of life, and I have personally learned so much from the blogs I’ve read and syndicated.   Karin Boode has shared valuable tips on how to better my blog; from Dr. Erica Goodstone I have been reminded of the power of love; Nelson Schroeder shares such wonderful stories from his childhood; from Lesly Federici I’ve learned much about self-esteem & self-talk; Joanna Sayers shares her journey as a marathon runner; and, Paul Klaszus who is so full of energy, that after visiting his blog, I can’t help but feel recharged and ready to go!  There are so many other wonderful blogs to learn something from, and I encourage you to visit the TSA group site on Facebook, and discover them for youself.

Of course, TSA would not be possible without Dave and Dawn Cook.  Earlier this year, they created TSA because they realized that Social Media Tribes are where people come together in one place to help each other by promoting each others content on the internet. They created TSA to be a unique tribe in that it’s an organized system that can be accessed at anytime, thus syndicating on your own schedule.  Every week, there is rotation of the 100+ members to maximize getting hits from different IP addresses. And, as Dave states, “Now that’s power!”  For myself personally, in just a few short weeks, in addition to the numerous new friendship connections I have made, I’ve seen a significant increase in the number of people visiting my blog, commenting on posts, and even following me on Twitter.  I know I could not have accomplished any of  this without TSA!

Okay, if you’ve been curious to my post title, let me explain a little bit.  A couple of weeks ago, Dave created a new goal to strive for, to be the top commentator of the week. So now, in addition to the top syndicator of the week, you can also be top commentator. I began this week by deciding that I would comment on every blog that I syndicated.  Yes, I realized that would take extra time and effort, yet it was a goal that I really wanted to commit to.  As the week progressed, I found myself becoming more energized with the interaction I was receiving from my fellow TSA members as I was syndicating & commenting on their posts  ~ From all the activity I was doing, this was the first week I also realized the power of Facebook and how much fun it really is!  Okay, fast-forward to Friday evening.  I was shocked as to how many counters I’d accumulated over the week, and even more when I saw that I had commented on 75 blogs!  Wow!  I was proud of myself for completing my goal ~ what a great feeling!  I am excited for another member of TSA to beat my record, and I will warn you though, it might come with a little bit of personal sacrifice ~ on Friday, my son literally told me, “You’ve been on the internet too much this week…step away from the computer Mom!” LOL!  I guess that was his way of saying that he missed me?!   ;-)

    Only joking.

And do tell me you didn’t resort to automation like some of the previous record holders*. But I s’pose any syndication is a good syndication, as long as we play by the rules of the Web.

    * For the heck of it I just pinged this single post of yours in pingler. Gosh what a way to rocket my counter.

    Christine,
Dave and I so appreciate the amazing boost you gave to TSA last week with your huge records. You are so deserving of the recognition you have earned! It is all the truly inspired folks like and all our other leaders that make TSA as powerful as it is. Though we must say, we don’t expect such sacrifices in the process…really. We hope you took a nice break with your son and family over the weekend!
You know though, we all want to know how you accumulated that many syndication counter points. Do you have any new tricks that have not already been shared? If so, please share your expertise with all of us. Like you, we love all we are learning from all the fantastic TSA members including you and we can’t wait to learn more from you!

Dawn & Dave, thank you guys so much for having created TSA & for all you do!!!! Really. :-)

I syndicated M-F of last week, and, on average, syndicated 18 different blogs each day (For a couple of the days I did more than that though). I spent about 2-3 hours per day (throughout the day, not all at one time…lol!) on this ~ I spent more time on the majority of the blogs b/c I was commenting on most every one that I syndicated, so the 2-3 hours time includes time to comment. To syndicate each blog, I used a combination of OnlyWire, PingFM, and individually for some sites (that didn’t work well on OW & not available on Ping), for an average of about 35 syndication points per blog (Some blogs had a few more points depending upon if they were new members blogs & I started to follow them on sites like FB, Twitter, YouTube, etc.). Okay…so that’s my secret everyone! ;-) If you’ve got time & put forth the effort, it is not impossible to do this…and beat 3317 counters…I promise!

And thank you for asking about spending time with my son. Although he was gone for most of the weekend (doing other things that 16 year old’s like to do), we spent some relaxing by the pool time together yesterday afternoon. ;-)

    * 6/21/10 10:35 CST, P.S. I reviewed my syndications & here is a little bit more of an actual breakdown of my numbers for the week:
    Total of 85 blogs syndicated
Average of 17 blogs per day (a couple of the days I may have done a few more & I believe on Friday, I did a few less)
    75 blogs commented on
Average of 36 points per blog (Some of the blogs had more syndication points if they were TSA members who were new and/or I was not yet following them on Twitter, FB, FB fan page, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)
    40 Follow Friday’s on Twitter
& numerous misc. points for comments on Facebook + RT’s + Following TSA members on FriendFeed, Digg, StumbleUpon & Likes

Scott, I too am guilty of spending too much time working my business & socializing on the internet ~ and I believe the reason I may get away with that is b/c my son is old enough that he “has his own life”, and tends to be gone a lot, otherwise, I know I would not have as much time! Wow I am impressed, I was going to ask for more details girl but i think i got most of my q’s answered from the comments. So you use ping.fm and onlywire, good idea. What about double ups there, did that matter? Did you just use TSA members or did you find randoms. I am getting about 20 or so submissions succeed each post now with onlywire, how is your success rate? Looking forward to seeing what new records are broken this week.

Hi Belinda & thank you! I use 12 services from OW & 20 from Ping, and they’re all different ones, so no doubles. Since the counter points are only for active TSA members, those are the only ones I counted. OW seems to be working better with submissions than it was a few weeks ago, however as there are some services that just don’t seem to go thru with OW, those are the ones that I use Ping for or manually go to the site and syndicate. And me too…I know it is going to be another record week for TSA! :-)

I’m brand new with the TSA and I’m trying to learn the process. It was incredible to see how much you did in one week. Wow! I’m blown away by your enthusiasm and effort. I might try and challenge you on that record but not until I get this whole process down. LOL.

Thanks for your post and the explanation about the new Top Commenter goal. And congratulations!

    Hi Christine!
Great site, really interesting posts and you’ve been exceptionally busy! As a TSA newbie I don’t think I’ll be taking on your record anytime soon but I’m meeting some cool people and amusing characters along the way.. I’m looking forward to keeping in touch.

    Regards,

First of all – Great job on being top syndicator last week. That was amazing! However, I can totally relate to how much time it must have taken you. Sometimes I get to the end of the week and realize I didn’t get half the stuff done I needed to because my time management – including syndication- was way off. It is easy to get caught up in the “fun” of TSA. Great post!!

    Well done!

LOL, kind of like the joke where the mom told her kids that if she ever depended on a machine and liquids being pumped into her body for life they should pull the plug, so the boy promptly went over and unplugged her computer and took away her vodka martini and said “Now pay attention to me!”…. So true, we get so caught up that we forget about things!

    Thanks for the great post.

Hello Christine – interesting to hear your perspective. I have also got a lot out of reading folks blogs. Good to remember the other side of why this tribe is worth it. I haven’t had a ton of luck with people referring others to my tribe but part of that is my determining how to make my blog useful and interesting to as many people as possible. Thanks for your thoughts.

I will take your inspiration and dedication and use it as a daily motivation for myself to keep blowing forward and doing my daily tasks when it comes to TSA.

    Hi Christine!

Wow–what an impressive feat! Commentator and Syndicator of the week! Congrats! I just found TSA TODAY because I quit a tribe I was paying $67 to be a part of having heard there are free ones out there. It’s a bit confusing with the spread sheet and all and I spent way too long fussing with it. I don’t think I had it in edit mode (whoops!). It then didn’t seem as difficult to maneuver around. I’m still getting a feel for it all. Does everyone connect on the FB page? Is there a ning community? It’s quite different from my last tribe in many respects but I think it’s just a matter of time to get used to how it works.

You have inspired me to syndicate more daily–thank you!
